Kingston Technology Corporation

Founded in 1987, Kingston Technology is a worldwide manufacturer of memory products that support nearly every device that uses memory, including computers, servers, printers, MP3 players, digital cameras, and mobile phones. Kingston serves an international network of distributors, resellers, retailers and OEM customers on six continents. The company also provides contract manufacturing and supply chain management services for semiconductor manufacturers and system OEMs.

Organizational Challenge:

There were approximately 300 servers in the Kingston Technology data center and use of space, power, and cooling costs were rising. As Kingston planned to make its data center more energy efficient and enhance its Disaster Recovery (DR) capabilities, the benefits of virtualization became apparent. At that time, however, virtualization was a fairly new technology and Kingston did not have virtualization expertise on staff.
