Most companies recognize the need for Business Continuity Planning. 85% of Fortune 1000 companies have some sort of Business Continuity or Disaster Recovery Plan in place. A widely-cited study in Contingency Planning and Management Magazine reported that 40% of companies that shut down for 3 days due to outages failed within 36 months. Yet, according to a Disaster Recovery Institute's Disaster Recovery Journal survey, 52% of all IT Disaster Recovery times exceeded 3 days; 22% exceeded 15 days; some exceeded 6 months!
